When I meet my customers I often learn a little about them, so here’s a little about me!
My interest in sewing was sparked by my mum. She has always been super clever at it and always has a project on the go. We love to share sewing tips and use any excuse to shop for fabric together.
After leaving school I studied Soft Furnishings at Chichester College which was a great starting block. I then worked on a self employed basis.
Recently I’ve completed a couple of short dressmaking courses, which has given me some key knowledge and the confidence to attempt more complex clothing styles. Although dressmaking is just a hobby, many techniques and skills transfer from dressmaking to soft furnishings so I find it really useful as well as fun.
The thing I love most about all sewing, whether it’s curtains, dressmaking, bag-making or anything else, is that the more you do it the more you learn. It’s an on-going process of creativity and trying new things! I love hearing creative ideas from others, whether it’s through friends, blogs, You Tube, Pinterest or my customers.
I love being self-employed instead of working for a big company. I get to meet my customers personally, see the beautiful rooms I’m making blinds for and see my customers smile when the finished product is hung. All these things are important to me.
My job is also great because I get to listen to the radio all day and have a cup of tea whenever I like…
